As far as I can see, it breaks down basically like these options for grinding out the event plus premium shop:
Free: – Earn Prinz Eidel and 2k in steel plus snowflake steel
$30 – Start with Prinz Eidel, earn 4k in steel plus snowflake steel
$60 – Start with bundled shit no one cares about, Earn Prinz Eidel and 8k in steel (buying privilege to play a long grinder campaign) plus snowflake steel
$90 – Start with bundled shit no one cares about, start with Prinz Eidel and earn 10k in steel (including grindy campaign), plus snowflake steel
On the upper end, people can max out around 4k-ish for steel rewards from snowflakes, so that puts the max in the neighborhood of 14-15k approximately, for $90 in total. Not even close to sniffing a tier 10 steel ship.
As an admitted whale, this isn't even remotely in the realm of something that interests me. $90 for a kind of shit tier premium and not enough steel to actually do anything with even after weeks of grinding hard? LOL, hard pass.
At least the snowflakes you can finish in co-op. Confirmed that this morning. That will save about 75-80% of the grind time on that thankfully.
Thanks to /u/rukensiha you can check your snowflake rewards theoretical max here:
