So the debate about Stalingrad being overpowered has raged for months. There is very little middle ground it seems, most people have a strong opinion one way or the other. The problem with the Stalingrad is that it is not widely available and typically only good players had it until recently. So comparing the Stalingrad agaisnt the Moskva or DM etc. just doesn't work, same as it didn't work for the Flint or the Black. So no one had any numbers to back up their argument
However, we know that WG looks at overperformance and underperformance across groups of players. They look to see if good players are better in it compared to their other ships and bad players are better in it compared to their other ships.
So I was curious. there is a decently wide cross section available now on Wows Numbers so I decided to compare several groups of players to see if there is correlation. I pulled the stats for 75 players. 25 were the players with the most games in the ship, 25 with the highest PR in the ship and 25 with the lowest PR in the ship. I then took the win rate of each of those players and compared it against their win rate for all their other t10 cruisers to see the difference. Here is what I found:
Of the 75 players looked at, 59 had a higher win rate with Stalingrad, 16 had a lower win rate. So 79% of the players looked at are better in the Stalingrad.
Across all 3 groups the average win rate in Stalingrad was 4.63% higher than the rest of their T10 ships.Загрузка...
In the most games played group, 21/25 of them had a higher win rate in the Stalingrad, the average win rate in the Stalingrad was 60.9%, and each player, on average, was 5.26% higher than their other t10s.
In the low PR group, 17/25 of them had a higher win rate in in the Stalingrad, the average win rate in the Stalingrad was 50.4%, and each player, on average, was 2.82% higher in Stalingrad compared to their other t10s.
in the high PR group, 21/25 of them had a higher win rate in Stalingrad, the average win rate in the Stalingrad was 71.6%, and each player, on average, was 5.80% higher in the Stalingrad when compared against their other t10 ships.
I have yet to see anyone do any numbers showing me that the Stalingrad is only good because of the players that own it and I challenge anyone to do it. Now there are many factors in this data set that are beyond my control, time window for the stats, for example. Also lacking a good cross section of players below 50%. But looking at this, I would definitely throw my hat in the "Stalingrad is OP" ring. But I don't believe its the most overpowered ship, that would likely belong to Nikolai still.
