So… Its been a few days in worldofwarships hasn't it? I don't think I've personally read through more comments and threads, or spent more time moderating while I'm working my actual job. If you guys think you've had a lot to sift through with the whole Puerto Rico event, I hope you feel for the mod team.
Anyways, I'd like to share a few things with you guys.
First off, with how many new users have been coming into the subreddit, I think this needs to be made clear…again. None of the mod staff is, or has been employed by Wargaming. As far as I know, there has only been once where we have gotten any kind of compensation for what we did and that was when Also_robots was trading upvotes for doubloons and things of that nature. I think I'm the only one from that time and we didn't receive it as a bribe or anything, more so as a thank you of sorts from certain members at Wargaming (Most of whom don't work there anymore)
Second, We have to sort through a lot of posts and a lot of reports, including reports for any new user through automod (we usually use this for ban evasion). So we have been removing suspect posts or posts that really don't fall in line with our rules in the sidebar. If you feel any post should or should not have been removed, please send us some modmail and we'll get it sorted out.
Third. I'd like to stress this, and its kind of important for me to stress it. Even though the mod team is pretty upset and agree with the community over the Puerto Rico event, we are doing our best to be impartial in our mod actions. Individually, mods can post and say what their feelings are on the whole situation, but when taking mod actions we are trying to see both sides of the situation (as hard as that is). So if it seems like we're taking one side or the other, we're really trying not to. It is a fine line and we have to stand right on it.
Lastly, I'd like to say we had some fun things planned over the holidays here, but with how much has been going on with the Puerto Rico event, we have decided to hold off on it for now.
I'd also like to share some statistics for you courtesy of Reddit, just to show how much we've been dealing with
We've obviously seen a major swing in community involvement in the sub since all of the information about the Puerto Rico has been released, most likely because we've been a better place for discussion than the forums.
As always, I appreciate any feedback you can send to myself or the mod team and would love to hear from you guys in the comments. Thanks for dealing with us while we deal with the increased activity on the sub.
