I tried doing this line a few months back, and safe to say in that form some of these destroyers would probably have become some of the most broken ships in the game just purely based off of the DPM figures. So I've redone these to make them slightly more fun to play against. Not that they will be. Don't worry about it though, these ships will probably be added in as torpedo boats knowing how WeeGee works.
The national flavor of this line will be that they will be pure gunboats, with no BS gimmicks. That means no fast reloading short duration smokes, no defensive hydro, 30mm pen, or reload boosters (lmao imagine.) Just good old gunboats. The torpedoes on most of the ships for the most part just kind of exist. Most of them only have a single set of torpedo launchers, and have a relatively short range. They will also be slow, even compared to cruisers- the fastest ship in the line goes at 36 knots. (It’s not the Tier 10)
Consumable Loadouts:
- Smoke Generator (3 charges) 20s action time, 60 second dispersion time. 150-160 second reload time. German smokes basically. Unless you guys want these things to have American smokes?
- DFAA – Because fuck CVs.
- Speed Boost – 8% boost, 120s action time, 120s reload. Just your standard DD speed boost. And they'll need it.
Let's get started:
Tier I: Paraguayan Gunboat
Paraguay
HP: 7200
Speed: 18 knots
Armament: 4×1 Ansaldo 4.7-inch (120 mm)
It's a tier one cruiser. Not much to say here.
Tier II: Pará-class destroyer
HP: 6000
Speed: 27 knots
Armament: 2 × 4 in (102 mm) guns
2×1 460mm Torpedo tubes
Reload: 32 seconds
Already getting a glimpse into how shit the torpedoes will be later on. I'm pretty sure this thing would lose to the tier one in a fight. Still though, nobody's going to play this thing for more than one game, so who cares?
Tier III Argentine Destroyer Catamarca
Dimensions: 285 feet long, 24 feet wide
Displaces 995 tons standard, 1357 tons full
Survivability:
Hull A: 7900 HP
Hull B: 9500 HP
Speed: 27 knots
Armament: 4×1 102mm/50 Bethlehem-Vickers guns
It has no AA. Have fun!
4×1 single 533mm Torpedo tubes
Tier IV Chilean Destroyer Almirante Lynch (Almirante Lynch-class Destroyer)
Entered Service: 1911
Survivability:
Hull A: 9950.
Hull B: 11900.
Speed: 31 knots
Concealment: 6.3 km
Armament:
6×1 4 in L/40 QF Mark VI, single mounting P Mk. XI
Firing Range: 10.3 km
Reload: 5 seconds
Maximum HE shell damage: 1500
Fire Chance: 6%
HE Armor penetration: 17mm
Shell Velocity: 664m/s
Torpedo Armament: 2×2 533mm Torpedo Tubes
Range: 6 km
Reload: 60s
Damage: about 11k
Anti Air:
2 x 1 QF 2-pounder pom-pom Mk. II, single mounting HA Mk. II
Base DPS: 19
Range: 3.5 km
Tier V: Venezuelan Destroyer Almirante Clemente (Almirante Clemente-class Destroyer)
Entered Service: 1956
A destroyer escort designed for Venezuela as a complement to their Nueva Esparta-class destroyers. The ship had a modest speed and torpedo armament, but was equipped with rapid-firing main guns and had a relatively powerful anti-air suite for her size.
Survivability:
A-Hull: 9200 HP
B-Hull: 10200 HP
Speed: 32 knots
Concealment: 6.4 km
CE will drop this down to about 5.8 km, making it one of the stealthier destroyers at her tier.
Armament:
- 4 × QF 4 in (102 mm)/45 Mark XVI guns in 2 twin Mark XIX mountings
– Reload: 3.0 seconds
– 180 Degree Turn Time: 12 seconds
– Firing Range: 8.6km
– Maximum HE Shell Damage: 1500
– Fire Chance: 6%
– HE Shell Penetration: 17mm
– Shell Velocity: 811 m/s
At exactly 120k HE DPM, this destroyer outguns every single tier 5 destroyer. However, the short range of the guns and poor shell arcs would make engaging anything outside of destroyers challenging.
Anti-Air:
4 × QF 4 in (102 mm)/45 Mark XVI
2 x 2 40 mm/60 Bofors A/A cannons in 2 twin Mark 2 mounts
8 × 2 20 mm/70 Oerlikon A/A cannons in 4 twin Mark 24 mounts
Base DPS: 28/32/92
Firing Range: 5.8 km/3.5km/2.0km
Number of Shell Explosions in a Salvo: 1
Damage by Shell Explosions: 1190
Pretty hefty for a tier 5 destroyer. Still won’t stop a Tier 4 CV though.
Torpedoes:
1×3 21 in (533 mm) torpedoes
Range: 6 km
Speed: 60 knots
Maximum Damage: 10,600
Reload: 52 seconds
As far as torpedo armaments go, this is pretty anemic, even for a tier 5 destroyer. Safe to say, you probably won’t be devstriking anything with this loadout.
Consumables:
3x Smoke Screen
Action time: 20s
Dispersion Time: 61s
Reload: 160s
3x Speed Boost
3x DFAA
Tier VI: Brazilian Destroyer Amazonas (Acre-class destroyer)
Entered Service: 1949
Designed and built in Brazil on the basis of a British H-Class destroyer. The ships received U.S made equipment, including powerful AA defenses owing to her 4 fast firing dual-purpose mounts.
Survivability:
- Hull A: 10500 HP
- Hull B: 12500 HP
Speed: 35.5 knots
Concealment: 6.9 km
Armament:
4×1 5"/38 DP gun
Reload: 3.3s
180 Degree Turn Time: 12s
Firing Range: 9.0 km
Maximum HE Shell Damage: 1800
Fire Chance: 5%
HE Shell Penetration: 21mm
Shell Velocity: 792 m/s
Hull A: 2×3 21 in (533 mm) torpedoes
Hull B: 2×4 21 in (533 mm) torpedoes
Range: 6.0 km
Speed: 64 knots
Maximum Damage: 11733
Reload: 90s
A welcome increase in torpedo power. Don’t get used to it though, this, and the Tier 7 destroyer, will have the most amount of torpedo tubes that will be mounted in this line.
Anti-Air:
1 × 2 40 mm guns
4 × 1 20 mm guns
4×1 5"/38 DP gun
Base DPS: 25/28.5/46
Range: 5.8km/3.5km/2.0km
Number of Shell Explosions in a Salvo: 2
Damage by Shell Explosions: 1120
Consumables:
3x Smoke Screen
Action time: 20s
Dispersion Time: 61s
Reload: 160s
3x Speed Boost
3x DFAA
It’s a pretty standard Tier 6 destroyer. It would be competing against the Farragut for highest DPM, in which the Farragut actually beats it slightly, however, it has a much better concealment. And AA, for what it’s worth.
Tier VII: Brazilian Destroyer Marcílio Dias (Marcílio Dias-class destroyer)
Entered Service: 1943
Based on the USN’s Mahan Class destroyers, the Marcílio Dias class destroyers shared similar characteristics, such as her rapid-firing main armament, and a similar torpedo broadside. However, these ships had a higher top speed, and slightly more AA firepower.
Survivability:
- Hull A: 10200 HP
- Hull B: 13500 HP
Speed: 36.5 knots
Concealment: 7.1 km
Armament:
5×1 5"/38 DP gun
Reload: 3.3s
180 Degree Turn Time: 12s
Firing Range: 9.5km
Maximum HE Shell Damage: 1800
Fire Chance: 5%
HE Shell Penetration: 21mm
Shell Velocity: 792 m/s
2×4 533mm (21 inch) torpedoes.
Range: 6.4 km
Speed: 64 knots
Загрузка...Maximum Damage: 11733
Reload: 88s
Yep. Those are Farragut torpedoes. As a side note, these ships were only ever designed with this firepower, in reality, they were commissioned with one less 5 inch gun and one set of torpedoes. I guess this means it's technically a paper ship?
Anti-Air:
1 × 2 40 mm guns
4 × 1 20 mm guns
5×1 5"/38 DP gun
Base DPS: 32/28.5/46
Range: 5.8km/3.5km/2.0km
Number of Shell Explosions in a Salvo: 2
Damage by Shell Explosions: 1190
Consumables:
3x Smoke Screen
Action time: 20s
Dispersion Time: 65s
Reload: 160s
3x Speed Boost
3x DFAA
Tier VIII: Venezuelan Destroyer Nueva Esparta (Nueva Esparta-class destroyer)
Nueva Esparta
Entered Service: 1953
A destroyer designed in Venezuela on the basis of the Battle class. The class traded torpedo firepower for an incredibly powerful anti-aircraft defense due to her numerous automatic AA guns mounts and an efficient dual-purpose artillery.
Survivability:
- Hull A: 14100 HP
- Hull B: 17200 HP
Speed: 34.5 knots
Armament:
3×2 QF 4.5 in (114 mm)/45 Mark V guns in 3 twin UD Mark VI mountings
Reload time: 3.5s
180 Degree Turn Time: 9.0s
Firing Range: 10 km
Maximum HE Shell Damage: 1700
Fire Chance: 8%
HE Shell Penetration: 19mm
Shell Velocity: 746 m/s
1×3 533mm (21 inch) Mark IX Torpedo Tubes
Range: 8 km
Speed: 61 knots
Maximum Damage: 15433
Reload: 66s
These torpedoes have more range and do more damage than the previous destroyers, but sacrifice 5 tubes and a bit of speed. The Pan-American national flavor is starting to take effect here.
Anti Air:
4×2 40 mm/60 Bofors A/A cannons in 4 twin STAAG Mk.II mounts
4×2 40 mm/60 Bofors A/A cannons in 4 twin Mk.V mounts
3×2 QF 4.5 in (114 mm)/45 Mark V guns
Base DPS: 67/107.2/98.4
Range: 5.8km/3.5km/3.5km
Number of Shell Explosions in a Salvo: 3
Damage by Shell Explosions: 1540
The reason why the torpedo power is so shit. Seriously, look at that AA. The long range AA is the exact same as Jutland’s, which is nothing special, but 16 40mm Bofors guns are nothing to scoff at. The AA bubble would consist of almost entirely mid-range AA, making it an incredibly potent AA platform.
Concealment: 7.64 km
Consumables:
3x Smoke Screen
Action time: 20s
Dispersion Time: 68s
Reload: 160s
3x Speed Boost
3x DFAA
This is basically a pre-nerf Jutland with shittier torpedoes, better AA, and worse concealment. The turrets could rotate 360 degrees, and would be the only ship in this line to have that capability.
Tier IX: Chilean Destroyer Almirante Riveros (Almirante-class destroyer)
Technically Almirante Williams but whatever.
Entered Service: 1960 (Making it, I believe, the most modern ship in the game so far.)
Designed by Vickers for the Chilean Navy, the class was fitted with an extremely fast-firing, Vickers-designed 4 inch guns which served their dual-purpose in full, further contributing to the ship’s potent AA defenses.
HP:
Hull A: 15800 HP
Hull B: 18500 HP
Speed: 34.5 knots
Concealment: 8.1 km
Armament:
4×1 4"/62 (10.2 cm) Vickers Mark Q
Reload Time: 1.5(!!)s
180 Degree Turn Time: 8.0s
Firing Range: 10.2 km
Maximum HE Shell Damage: 1500
Fire Chance: 6%
HE Shell Penetration: 20 mm (⅕ pen)
Shell Velocity: 900 m/s
1×5 21 in (533 mm) torpedo tubes
Range: 8 km
Speed: 61 knots
Maximum Damage: 15433
Reload: 96s
Anti Air:
4×1 4"/62 (10.2 cm) Vickers Mark Q
6×1 Bofors 40mm/70
Average DPS: 160/312
Range: 6.0km/3.5km
Number of Shell Explosions in a Salvo: 6
Damage by Shell Explosions: 1260
The values here would be almost identical to the Friesland, because of their almost identical Anti-Aircraft suites (same number of barrels, same number of 40mm/70 mounts). The AA would actually be slightly worse though, due to the flak clouds not dealing as much damage (Not that flak really matters).
Consumables:
3x Smoke Screen
Action time: 20s
Dispersion Time: 73s
Reload: 160s
3x Speed Boost
3x DFAA
At exactly 240K HE DPM, the Almirante Riveros has the exact same DPM as the Harugumo. The shells, while having a good initial shell velocity of 900m/s, are quite light, being 4 inch shells. This would mean that the shells would lose a significant amount of speed at range.
I have also seen proposals for the Tier IX to be one of the Fletchers or Gearings sold to the Pan-American nations. If you're one of those people, I have a question for you:
- Do we need more Fletcher clones in the game?
Tier X: Colombian Destroyer Veinte De Julio (Halland Class Destroyer)
Entered Service: 1958
A modified Halland-class destroyer built in Sweden for the Chilean Navy. The ship traded a set of torpedo tubes and an AA mount in exchange for an extra 120mm turret.
HP: 19200
Speed: 32 knots
- No, this is not an ahistorical nerf applied to the ship to make it less OP. This is the actual speed that the Colombian navy decided they wanted these ships to go at for whatever reason. At 32 knots, you are the slowest destroyer at Tier 10 by a significant margin, most cruisers can outrun you, hell, the fucking Iowas could run you down.
Concealment: 8.3m
Armament:
3×2 Bofors 120 mm guns
Reload time: 2.1 seconds
180 Degree Turn Time: 7.2s
Firing Range: 10.4
Maximum HE shell damage: 1750
Fire chance: 8%
HE shell penetration: 20mm
1 x 4 533mm Torpedo Tubes
Range: 8km
Speed: 61 knots
Maximum Damage: 15433
Reload: 88s
Anti Air:
4 × 1 Bofors 40 mm/70 AA guns
6 × 2 Bofors 120 mm guns
Base DPS: 216/252.8
Range: 6km/3.5km
Number of Shell Explosions in a Salvo: 8
Damage by Shell Explosions: 1820
Consumables:
3x Smoke Screen
Action time: 20s
Dispersion Time: 77s
Reload: 160s
3x Speed Boost
3x DFAA
As the pinnacle of the Pan-American tech tree, Veinte De Julio embodies all of the concepts of the Pan-American tech tree. This ship has negligible torpedo power, no bullshit 30mm pen, no hydros, no fast-reloading smokes, no 20% speed boosts, no TRB, terrible concealment, overall no BS gimmicks. So what does this ship offer? She gets the most powerful main guns mounted on any DD, taking the place of Marceau as the destroyer with the highest DPM in the game. Without any modules or BFT, your guns already cross the 300k DPM threshold. With this DD, you are relying solely on the gun DPM to do work. You can’t chase anything, you can’t contest caps without hydro or radar, and you sure as hell can’t max-range HE spam with that range. This ship would rely on getting into good positions in order to be able ambush other DDs with your insane DPM and to make use of your short range.
Captain Skills
For the first 10 skill points, I would recommend taking the standard DD skills: PM – LS – SE – CE. Then, I woould recommend speccing into AFT with your next four points for 20% more range. With the next 3 points, its a tossup between SI and BFT. Do you want more dakka? Or do you want more utility? Finally, next two points into AR.
