Hey Bungie, I remember us giving you feedback that we disliked having to get Power weapon kills in PvP for quests. So why are you making us do exactly that?

I forget what season it was, I think either 9 or 10, but the Iron Banner quest required 10 Power Weapon kills. Now, I got lucky-due to a few multikills with RLs, I got the 10 kills on each character before they autocompleted it. I can get special and primary kills, but power kills are terrible (it incentivises ignoring zones to cap heavy, and it sucks when you don't get the kill because either your weapon is weak, or else some bs happens).

A few days ago, someone pointed out that the quest (according to

You can that it's any power weapon, but when you consider that our options are bad and the steps to even get power are both annoying and distract from the OBJ, you can understand why I'm annoyed.

Side note, here's my take on our current power weapons for PvP:

  • Linear Fusions can OHK and get decent brick ammo. However, they require a crit, which is difficult to to both flinch and the charge up (Arbelest is solid, but it's an exotic, and it's kinetic so no bueno).
  • Rockets are solid as long as you can aim in the general direction. I do think getting 2 rockets would be fair, 1 is pretty poor given that your enemies have to be less than a bee's dick to get a multikill.
  • Black Talon and the caster swords are ok, although they consume all your ammo. Otherwise, swords are damn near useless in PvP (I'm not counting 3-peeking here).
  • Grenade launchers are alright, but they only get 3 rounds. Also, they can be finnicky-even with a good roll and high blast radius, the round can sometimes fail to kill, even if it's close to the opponent. Also, most GLs have a low base blast radius, so finding one with a decent radius requires a god roll (which, given rng and the amount of stuff in most loot pools, is difficult). The only GL that even has any target farming is Blast Battue.

Note that these are mostly legendary options. Many of the exotic options (Xenophage, Colony, and Truth) are actually pretty solid. But if you don't have a certain gun, or you can't even get heavy in the first place, it doesn't matter. I'd much rather get 100 primary or special weapon kills than 10 power weapon kills (at least then, I'd have more consistent progress than "Oh hey, I got 1 kill in 3 matches.")

It's not an impossible step, but it's way too reliant on luck to be a fair step (there's a level of skill, but that's less of a specific gripe and more of a "that's just how it be"). And if we've already given our feedback, why is it that you've done it?

TL;DR pvp power weapon kills bad, why we gotta do this again?
