Update: it appears that this reddit's moderators have removed this post. I posted it a few hours ago and it garnered several thousand upvotes and hundreds of comments in those few hours before they removed it. I was not notified of this, or given a reason why.

TLDR: there's a lot more recoil while using a controller, mouse and keyboard users enjoy significantly less recoil on the exact same guns. Multiple videos providing proof, along with confirmed statements from Bungie developers on the topic of recoil.

If you're from Bungie, please return controller recoil to either Destiny 1's console recoil or make it the same as PC.

The video proof, using The Recluse

First, check light.gg for the recoil direction of The Recluse. You'll find that The Recluse has a perfect recoil direction score of 100, meaning the weapon's recoil should be perfectly vertical or very close to it.

Media reports, and Bungie official statements on recoil

  • PCGamesN news clip

  • Destiny 2 Project Lead Mark Noseworthy's statement on the recoil difference:

    Загрузка...

“For instance, there’s no recoil on guns on PC because recoil on the controller feels really good… With a mouse and keyboard, you don’t want the mouse moving without you moving it, so recoil doesn’t feel good, so there is no recoil on PC."

PC Lead Developer David Shaw:

On console we have just tonnes of recoil, it’s part of what makes the guns feel so visceral and so real and solid. On PC that just translated to your chasing around your gun with the mouse, so we’ve adapted that recoil system to be more PC centric.

My question is, I understand why recoil doesn’t feel good on PC, so why exactly would it feel good on console where aiming with thumbs is much harder than hand and arm? Also why increase the recoil for console Destiny 2 when Destiny 1 recoil is about the same as PC Destiny 2?

Contrast that with what Bungie’s Lead Developer Lars Bakken says about the Destiny 2 experience on all platforms, during an
interview with WCCFtech:

" aiming to deliver the same experience on all platforms."

Please revert the recoil back to either Destiny 1 console recoil, or make it the same as on PC. This is outrageous. There's a window of opportunity to do so with the release of the next generation consoles in 4 months.

Just for good measure, from Drewsky:
