With sunsetting, this is detrimental to the game, regardless of your opinion on sunsetting. Currently there is so much randomness that limited time gear is simply not worth the investment. I'll compare D1 rng to D2 rng with various hand cannons to show what I mean.

In the Taken King, the vanguard hand cannon was
330099586 down and doubt 00 0 - The amount of RNG for weapons is ridiculously higher than any time before

Double and Doubt. While it can roll many perks, it rolls multiple options in each slot, so there is never more than a 1/6 chance for each perk to drop. Sights, trait 1, stat perk, and trait 2 have 2, 6, 5, and 6 options respectively. You have a 1/360 chance to get the roll you want. This is for a playlist weapon.

Lets look at the raid hand cannon,
Zaouli's Bane to compare. You had 3 chances to get this per week but it was in a larger loot pool than most raids today. There is a single random perk on this weapon, with 4 options. For both the normal and harrowed versions, you have a 1/4 chance to get what you want.

Same applies to the trials hand cannon,
341708371 the water star - The amount of RNG for weapons is ridiculously higher than any time before

The Water Star. One random perk. 1/4 chance.

The TTK Iron Banner hand cannon. Finnala's Peril, is 2x13x5x10 or 1/1300 chance. Same for the Appellant III and
Imago Loop. This was the lowest chance I could find for Y2 hand cannons.

Now lets look at D2… the numbers are about to get nasty

Beyond Light's raid hand cannon,
3281285075 posterity?perks=1322370662,1392496348,2420895100,3096702027,4049631843,4248210736,2323986101,518224747,0,2285418970 - The amount of RNG for weapons is ridiculously higher than any time before

Posterity. It has 9 barrels, 7 magazines, 7 of trait1, 6 of trait2, and 4 masterwork options. It picks two of the first two slots, though they arent divided into groups like before. So the odds of getting what you want are about 4.5×3.5x7x6x4, or a ludicrous 1/2646 chance

This raid weapon not only far surpasses D1 raid weapons, but dwarfs even the playlist weapons during taken king. You can get 3 per week plus spoils drops. Who in their right mind would hunt a specific roll, even without sunsetting?

We don't have a playlist hand cannon currently, so lets look at the crucible pulse rifle, Stars in Shadow. You're going to have an easier time getting this to drop, but the rng is insane. It has 9 barrels, 7 magazines, 12 traits in both slots, and 4 masterworks. That is 4.5×3.5x12x12x4 or 1/9072 chance of getting the roll you want.

Other examples: Adept Summoner is 1/1800. Steady Hand (Year 4) is 1/1728.
Friction Fire is 1/2592.
2870169846 hailing confusion - The amount of RNG for weapons is ridiculously higher than any time before
Hailing Confusion is the same.

For context, the Forsaken raid weapon Nation of Beasts is 1/1260, and the crucible weapon Better Devils was 1/2688, which is also ludicrous, but not as bad.

In Shadowkeep, the raid weapon Ancient Gospel was only 1/864, and the moon weapon Loud Lullaby was 1/2592. Point isn't that these rates are good, but that they have gotten worse in Beyond Light. The new raid hand cannon has over twice the RNG as the previous two.

And don't get me started on armor

This is not just a long grind, its downright sisyphean. Honestly, if this is a ploy to get people to grind more, it isn't working. Many people ignore the first two slots entirely, and others simply aren't bothering with grind because it isn't worth the effort, especially with sunsetting. This needs to be toned down massively.
