March Mod Team Update

FIFA19 9 - March Mod Team Update

Hello! It's me again, this time with the Monthly Mod Update for March! February was a busy month for the mod team but an important one, so sit up straight and pay attention. Also just a note that these will come out on the first Monday of the month to avoid any clashes with potential promos and weekend league hype.

First and most important order of business was to change the rules. This has been on the table for a while now and this month we knuckled down to bring you what we feel are a more up to date set of rules that better reflect the kind of culture we want to promote here. For clarity, I’m writing them here and I strongly suggest you give them a read:

  • This is not a marketplace. Buying, selling, trading, begging or wagering for coins, players, real money, accounts or digital items is not allowed. Posting anything related to coin buying or selling will result in a ban.

  • Don't be an asshole. Posts and comments consisting of racist, sexist or homophobic content will be removed, regardless of popularity or relevance. Pictures showing personal information or anything that could lead to doxxing or witch-hunting will not be allowed. Click-baits, shitposts and trolling will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate ban. Treat others how you would like to be treated.

  • Personal Attacks. We are 100% in favor of critical and constructive posts and comments as long as they are not aimed towards a specific person. Any direct or indirect attack to members of the FIFA community are strictly prohibited.

  • We're not your free advertising or here to pay your bills. Using the subreddit's subscriber base for financial gain is not allowed. Apps, websites, streams, youtube channels or any other external source to Reddit cannot be advertised. Giveaways promoting another medium (retweet to enter, subscribe to win, etc.) are not allowed. If you wish to advertise, you can do so through reddit. Read
selfpromotion - March Mod Team Update

what Reddit considers to be acceptable self-promotion here.
  • This isn't soccer or memes. Let's keep this sub related to the FIFA videogame and not about real world soccer news/videos outside of our designated weekend IF threads. Memes are not allowed either. If your post includes content not directly extracted from the game, it will be removed.

  • Automatic Removal. The following topics will be automatically removed by the moderation team due to user feedback, low effort and repetitiveness.

  • If you see something that isn't right, report it. Clicking the report button under the post is the fastest way to helps us catch anything that might be in violation of the rules.

  • If you're not sure, just ask. Send a message to mod mail before posting if you have questions about what is and isn't allowed.

  • We reserve the right to remove a post if it is against the game's TOS

We’ve also, and by we I mean u/ninjaciego, spent a lot of time updating the WIKI which I remind you is the first place to look for information about the sub. If you have a question or query you should search there first. It also explains some of the rules in more detail. Use it.

Moving along we come to the audience participation part of the show. We want to make changes to the sub like Daily Squad Thread or people posting concept cards, but we really want your opinion before we do so. If you’re not familiar with any of these subjects then I suggest you have a little look around first, but the gist of this is we want YOU to tell us how you feel about them. If you click the links below it will take you to a strawpoll where you can tell us what you think of that particular topic and we’ll report the findings back to you when we can.

Ideally, we want our subs to have a say about this community as much as we do (almost anyway ;)). Jokes aside we want this to be the best sub on Reddit and to do that we’re gonna need your help. Also, the Meme discussion continues, we haven't forgotten. We'll update you when we have more to add on this front.

And speaking of the community the Mod team want to say a big thank you to those of you who report posts you know are breaking our rules. These reports help cut down a large portion of the work we do in searching and weeding out offenders. Keep up the good work as there are many more of you than there are of us.

The community, you guys and girls, are extremely important to us. One of the things we wanted to implement as part of our focus on the community is the Posts Of The Month and I’m delighted to say that last month's post is already live! You can check it out here:

Posts Of The Month

Behind the scenes, we’re all getting closer together. The other day I started talking and another mod finished my sentence. He finished it incorrectly mind you but the bond is getting stronger. The more we gel together the better we’ll be and the better we are the more you’ll start to see this sub transform. We appreciate it might not be quick, it certainly isn’t easy, but we are all volunteers trying to do the best we can and we appreciate all your help and patience.

Until next month.
