God of War 3 kind of has a special place in my heart since it's the first videogame with actual voilence in it that I was allowed to play. I wasn't allowed to get Call of Duty and the likes but for some reason my parents thought this one was perfectly OK. It was quite the experience when I played it on my ps3 back in the day. It was the most epic and badass-est thing I'd ever seen and I loved it.
When I finished the new game (that I absolutely loved btw) I still wasn't ready to say goodbye to Kratos again so I got myself the remaster.
I must say it's weird to go from GoW:Norse to GoW3. Barely feels like the same series honestly, it's so different. Aside from the obvious differences in gameplay and setting, Kratos is really different from how he is in the last and first game (also finished the first one relatively recent). He's basically a supervillain. He only gets likeable at the very end. GoW1 and 4's Kratos wasn't the nicest guy ever either but he was a lot deeper and most importantly, I didn't hate the guy. 3's Kratos was a horrible person who only cared about himself. And when he meets Pandora he immediatly sees her as some kind of daughter, but then he just lets her die anyway so he can punch Zeus in the face. And all that hope & fear shit was kinda dumb.
The game itself is still very good. Gameplay, graphics, puzzles, bosses, enemies are all ?. All of it is very well made. The environments look great and there's always something absolutely badass going on, like Helios fighting a giant lava man while you're smashing sime skeletons. All of it is ridiculously badass and epic, although a little cheesy sometimes. I love the James Bond-ish opening credits showing the events of the previous games. Everything is very wel done.
The ending is also pretty good. Thing is, it came way too early. The game isn't even nearly as long as I remember it to be. It's great fun, but I think it lasted no more than six hours. There's barely any endgame content, when your get to the end you're basically just done. Kind of a bummer. Really wished it was longer, the game is a lot of fun.
The game is just as good as I remember it to be, just a lot shorter.
EDIT: Jeez this post ended up being way longer than I intended.
