On and on, I keep hearing about how everyone hates this guy, from his one-hit kills to his evasiveness and his tankiness when in rage mode. Speaking as someone who's had trouble with him, I have to say that after some time, I've grown to like him for one reason: he made me change how to approach him. Kulve Taroth and a few elder dragons have that preparation to some degree, too, but it's just a lot more apparent with Tempered Kirin.
Before him, I've been running one loadout and hardly considered what to bring, only having general stuff like vitality mantle, health booster, etc. Of course when I decided to fight Kirin without preparing, I got trounced front and back. No amount of his attack knowledge would prepare me for his sporadic movement and random lightning attacks.
After a few more losses, I was like "well I have to change something". And then it hit me: no other monster before him has challenged me to change my approach. Once I swapped my weapon from the charge blade to the light bow gun, put on some thunder res. decors and equipped the thunderproof mantle, I was able to take Kirin on without carting, save for some near-deaths.
Once I beat him, I was pretty ecstatic because I felt like I actually had to gear up and adapt instead of simply learning its moves. Like a real hunter, you don't go in using the same tools to overcome your target, rather, you analyze it and prepare accordingly to give yourself the biggest advantage.
Like I said, its probably an unpopular opinion as I have yet to see anyone praise this fight but while it is a bit tedious, it is overall refreshing to have a fight challenge me by having me prepare for it, and I really hope to see more of that come with future updates.
