We all see a lot of balance whine on here, and the core issues of tilt, toxicity and the balance whine all stem from unfun mechanics rather than balance. Sombra's not OP, Mei d*cks on her so hard. Tracer's not OP, literally any hit scan can take her from a distance. Pharah's not OP, you can literally have a team of counters, BOB's not OP (Though much like the D.va bomb, there should be some warning as to where he's located.) He can be slept, frozen, hacked, there is plenty of counter play there. Ashe's dynamite burn may be a little much, but hardly into the territory of OP. Brig at release was OP. That's what OP really is, I don't think she needed the shield bash damage nerf. The problem is that the newer characters have UNFUN buttons. The problem isn't that stun is OP, the problem is it's unfun. You set up for an ult and it gets cancelled because of a stun from 3 metres away. THAT. IS. INFURIATING. You and your entire team get hacked and now nobody can counter-play the other ults. THAT IS UNFUN.
The purpose of a game is to have fun, but as long as we focus on BALANCE, we're not focusing on telling the devs what we want to make it more FUN. Some characters are going to seem unbalanced to you because of who you choose to play, soldier's ult seems OP as hell if you're mercy or pharah. Not so much if you are Orisa or Rein. Ult's aside you at least have a shot as Pharah against a soldier, and mercy is a healer so she's not expected to win 50/50 against that, but you can kill him as mercy, it at least feels fun, like you have a fighting chance. What's not fun is getting hacked or stunned mid-GA and then just jumping around as you die. Sombra's not unbalanced, she's actually quite easy to kill, she has to hack you most of the time just to be on even footing in a straight up fight, so not unbalanced, but not fun either. Sleep mechanic, again just laying there watching your team die, not fun. Ana's not OP, but having healing blocked and being slept, this is all not fun. She's easy enough to kill and nano can be shut down by focus fire. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that balance isn't the problem with the game, it's the amount of unfun buttons that new characters are getting. That's what we should be focusing on but all I see is balance whine and "Nerf X" and "Buff Y". Nerfing and buffing characters is not going to change the fun level, removing unfun abilities and replacing them with equally powerful fun abilities is what's going to fix the game.
