Hello Everyone,

The purpose of this in-depth guide is to provide RDR2 online players with information regarding the most productive and profitable hunting routes for each of the 5 states in Red Dead Redemption 2 Online. The goal is to give hunting a more structured strategy aimed at increasing profit and decreasing the time it takes to make said profit. Feedback is welcome. If the feedback is positive I'd love to continue this series. Please let me know!

For today's guide, we will visit the state of Lemoyne, and the first hunting route we will cover.

FROM RHODES TO SHADY BELLE: (map included here)

Tip #1: Try to cover the coastline as much as possible. In fact, don't ride your horse. Leave it behind by using the stay command. You will make less noise, you won't frighten as much wildlife, and aiming your weapon will be easier. I've found that I can aim my weapon at a more vertical angle when I'm on foot which make killing birds much easier, especially the ones that fly at high altitudes.

Tip #2: Speaking of birds… especially on this hunting route because of the possibility of many bird spawns, be sure to scan the sky while skinning fresh kills. This will allow you set up your next kill quickly and you won't miss a valuable kill during the skinning animation.

Tip #3: This might be controversial however when I hunt along this route I do not spend time killing any animal that I have to stow on my horse. With the recent disconnection issues RDR2 Online has been having, I've been burned one too many times after loading my horse to the brim with pelts and carcasses, only to be disconnected from the game and losing all of them. The primary hunting targets I've listed below can all be stored in your satchel which is un-effected by the recent disconnect issues.

Tip #4: The best time to travel this hunting route is at sunrise. You will encounter much more wildlife, especially birds along the coast. Morning time is when you will see the most flocks of 8-10 birds flying across the sky.

PREFERRED WEAPON LOAD-OUT:

Primary: Bow & Arrow (Regular, Small Arrow, and Poison)

Secondary: Varmint Rifle

First Holster: LaMat Revolver

Second Holster: Lamat Revolver

PREFERRED ABILITY CARD LOAD-OUT:

Dead-Eye: Paint it Black

1st Passive: Horseman

2nd Passive: Landon's Patience

3rd Passive: Winning Streak

PRIMARY HUNTING TARGETS:

Rabbits (varmint rifle)

They are everywhere along this route. I only bother killing the 2 ($1.75) and 3 ($1.05) star rabbits. Use the varmint rifle for a perfect pelt.

Squirrels (small game arrow)

Like the rabbits, squirrels are everywhere along this route. Use the small game arrow which allows you get perfect carcasses ($1.75) on squirrels of 1,2, and 3 stars.

Muskrats (varmint rifle)

Even though not as common as rabbits and squirrels, the muskrat is still a good use of your time. I only bother killing the 2 ($2.00) and 3 ($1.20) star muskrats. Use the varmint rifle for a perfect pelt.

Small Song Birds (small game arrow)

Like the squirrels, using the small game arrow will get you a perfect carcass ($1.00) on all of 1,2, or 3 starred small song birds.

Pelicans (varmint rifle)

Along this route pelicans can be found grouped in 2 different ways.

First you will find them in small flocks of 1-3 along the coastline. Be sure to be as quiet as possible when approaching these small flocks. If the birds are alerted of your approach they will take flight, requiring you to kill them as quickly as possible before they fly out over the water. Once they are over the water, if you shoot them and kill them you will not be able to retrieve them due to the depth of the water.

Read:  RDR2 made me love John Marston even more.

Second you will find them in large flocks of 8-10 flying inland from out over the water. As previously suggested, do not shoot and kill these birds when they are out over the water because you will not be able to retrieve them. You will have to wait for their flight path to merge with the land.

Use the varmint rifle. The amount of stars of the bird will always equal the amount of feathers ($1.20) you will be able to harvest.

Herons (varmint rifle)

(See Pelicans)

Along this route Herons can be found grouped in 2 different ways.

Cormorants (varmint rifle)

Along this route Cormorants can be found grouped in 2 different ways.

Common, Yellow-Billed, Pacific Loons (Varmint Rifle)

Along this route Loons can be found grouped in 2 different ways.

First you will find them in small flocks of 1-2 floating in the water not to far from the coastline. Be sure to be as quiet as possible when approaching these small flocks. If the birds are alerted of your approach they will take flight, requiring you to kill them as quickly as possible before they fly out over deeper water. Once they are over the deeper water, if you shoot them and kill them you will not be able to retrieve them.

Second you will find them in small flocks of 1-2 flying inland from out over the water or vice-versa. As previously suggested, do not shoot and kill these birds when they are out over the water because you will not be able to retrieve them. You will have to wait for their flight path to merge with the land.

Read:  People have to stop complaining, the payouts have become absolutely insanely good, and if you make them lower it any more the game is going to get really boring, really fast.

Use the varmint rifle. The amount of stars of the bird will always equal the amount of feathers ($1.20) you will be able to harvest.

Snakes (small game arrow)

Like the small song birds, using the small game arrow will get you a perfect pelt ($1.15) on all of 1,2, or 3 snakes.

Whooping, Sandhill Cranes (varmint rifle)

(See Herons)

Along this route cranes can be found grouped in 2 different ways.

First you will find them in small flocks of 1-3 along the coastline. Be sure to be as quiet as possible when approaching these small flocks. Eastern Turkey Vulture (varmint rifle)

These birds are found flying alone, at very high altitudes. Use the varmint rifle. The amount of stars of the bird will always equal the amount of feathers ($1.20) you will be able to harvest.

North American Raccoons (varmint rifle)

They are everywhere along this route. I only bother killing the 2 ($1.25) and 3 ($0.75) star rabbits. Use the varmint rifle for a perfect pelt.

Panthers (regular, poison arrow)

The panther can be found south of Bolger Glade, near the coastline in the jungle-themed part of Lemoyne. Use the regular or poison arrow for a perfect carcass ($14.00).

AVAILABLE HIDEOUTS (IN ORDER):

Radley's pasture

Braithwaite Manor

Shady Belle

FINAL THOUGHTS:

All and all, I chose to start this series with this route because of its beauty, first and foremost. There's nothing like riding your horse, or walking along the coast with the sun rising over the water in the distant background. Also, you'll notice I don't end this route at a butcher. You can find one on your own. Instead, I end this route at a small cabin tucked away in the swamp with a dilapidated pier out behind it for fishing. You can loot the cabin for supplies and the fish are plentiful.

Its a great place to rest in order to prepare for the second part of our journey.
