Hey, everyone! We at the
r/RedDeadRedemption moderator team wanted to keep you updated on a few changes with the subreddit – but first, the Tuesday update & event post can be found
So, with that being said, we wanted to take a moment to inform the community on a few decisions that have been made, policy updates being put into place and some minor changes with things over here.
We've put in place an official
r/RedDeadRedemption twitter account
here in order to allow our community to more easily keep up with the hottest posts on the subreddit. This is something we've been working on for a while, and are finally ready to roll out publicly.
Without giving away the details, we use an IFTTT bot to post all Hot, Trending and Rising posts from the subreddit straight to the account as Tweets, meaning that any followers will have the best of our threads delivered straight to their Twitter newsfeeds regularly throughout the day as posts grow in score and popularity.
We'll also be running some exclusive offers and events in the coming months for Twitter followers, so stay tuned!
Rule 3/Rule 4 Memes
After a long discussion with the moderator team that has stretched over a period of a few months, we've decided to revise our policy on memes. To begin, we are revising Rules 3 and 4 so that all memes must include an image from Red Dead Redemption, and require effort in their creation.
This means that templates, image macros, copy-pastes, and hastily added text will no longer be allowed, and that all memes need to be images from the game or feature an image from the game.
Secondly, we are restricting memes to a single day of the week – Monday. Any memes posted Tuesday through Sunday will be removed; memes will only be allowed to be posted on Mondays to cut down on spam and a reduction of post quality and valuable discussion. Note that we are open to feedback on this policy and may extend it to multiple days in a week, or a full week of a month.
To summarize, memes will ONLY be allowed on Mondays, and must a) feature an image from a Red Dead game, and b) require effort in their creation.
Finally, we're opening moderator applications to fill a number of vacancies. You can apply here – we're ideally looking for people who have previous moderator experience or relevant real-life experience that is transferable to a job as a moderator.
We would also like applicants to be regularly active members of the community; some knowledge of AutoMod and CSS is an asset but is not required. Anyone whose application is accepted will be asked to have a Discord account.
As always, we're happy to have you guys and gals, and I think I speak for everyone on the mod team when I say that we're lucky to have such an awesome community. We're always open to feedback and happy to hear any criticisms or ideas as comments here, or through Modmail messages.
Thanks again, everyone!
