Today it was the first time I ventured to the inactive lava zone and successively to the active one ; I prepared by stocking water , food , alien tablets and various supplies on my cyclops , built all the augmentations I could have built without kyanite ( cause I obviously still had to enter the lava biome ) and also used the builder tool to craft more storage lockers , tree planters , medkit creators , ecc on board….did not build any battery or cell recharger cause of the 1:1 energy ratio . I then did the same with my prawn suit and docked it into the cyclops, finally ready to go. I have to say…..that while the exosuit itself surprised me in a pretty positive way through the whole inactive lava zone , even avoiding me to get eaten or melted by a sea dragon…the cyclops felt lackluster to say the least. Its power kept draining too fast…and there were no larvae attached to it, it's too big to drive it effectively without ever bonking against something , it is slow….seriously I don't want to see how thing thing would have faired if I picked one of the entrances guarded by a ghost leviathan , its visual is truly awful and the presence of cameras does not really justify it , every fish that randomly happens to touch me damages the hull….and again, this is not something as small , fast and agile as a seamoth….it is basically a mechanical reefback. I remember loving this submarine in the pre-release versions of the game but now it just doesn't feel so very worth to use it unless it's to drop your prawn suit somewhere , transport lots of stuff or using it as mobile ( and still not fully self sufficient ) base. Does it get better enough with the thermal reactor and ion power cells to justify the changes it received during developement ? How do you generally use it ? How would you survive to a leviathan encounter with it aside from "tanking its hits" ? I'd truly like to know cause by seeing it in this state I kinda lost my will to use it….and again, it used to be my favourite sub pre-release.
